F. John Michelbrink

1944 - 2020

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather. You will be forever missed.

F. John Michelbrink 76, passed away on Saturday November 28,2020, at Cornerstone Hospice in Orlando, Florida due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. John was born on February 7, 1944, in Euclid, Ohio, the son of Frank and Anna Mae Michelbrink. On January 17, 1970, he married Judy Hutchison, the love of his life. They were married fifty wonderful years. John attended John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio before enlisting in the Army. He spent three years as a military police (MP), stationed at Fitzsimons Army Hospital, in Denver, Colorado. Upon discharge he worked at Navistar in Ft Wayne, Indiana, as a Quality Control engineer. That is where he met his bride to be, Judy.

In 1983 the family moved to South Bend, Indiana, where John worked at AM General building the Hummer. He retired in 2001, so he could leave the cold winters of Indiana and moved to Lake Placid, Florida.

John loved to garden and he seemed to have a "green thumb", no matter what he grew. He also loved to fish, and the home we bought in Florida is on a lake.

John is survived by his wife, Judy; sons Paul J. (Tammy Funnell) Michelbrink of Aurora, Colorado, David L. (Kanetha Speck) Michelbrink of South Bend, Indiana. Granddaughters, Lucy Michelbrink, (Aurora, Colorado), Juliana Michelbrink, (Laporte, Indiana). Grandsons Luke Michelbrink, (Aurora, Colorado), Benjamin Michelbrink (Laporte, Indiana).

Brothers Larry (Sue Wherle) Michelbrink, (Dayton,Ohio), Mark (Denise) Michelbrink, (LeCanto, Florida). Also preceding John in death, a sister, Betty Bacher, (Cleveland,Ohio)

John will be missed by many. He was a wonderful, loving, husband, father, Grandpa (Papa), brother, and friend. A celebration of John's life will be held at a future date, post COVID, when it's safe for loved ones to attend. John will be laid to rest in the Sarasota National Cemetery.
